The Mental Health Commission of Canada is pleased to announce the approval of 24 research projects to be undertaken by its eight Advisory Committees.
(Child and Youth, Family Caregivers, First Nations, Inuit and Métis, Mental Health and the Law, Science, Seniors, Service Systems, Workforce).
The committees worked on a number of ideas last winter. The Commission narrowed down the final 24 projects based on which ones would have the strongest and most immediate impact on its work. Topics range from an evaluation of Canada`s legal system as it pertains to people with a mental illness, to looking at best practice and options for service development to meet the needs of ethno-cultural groups, immigrants, refugees and racialized groups.
The research projects have been designed to support to the goals and objectives of the Commission’s three key initiatives:
• An anti-stigma campaign
• A national strategy
• A knowledge exchange centre
The total cost of the projects is $5,116,448. Some of them will take a few years to complete.
