Frequently Asked Questions

Can I submit more than one application?
No, individuals may only submit one application. If an individual submits more than one application, only the first one submitted will be reviewed.

Can an organization submit more than one application?
Yes, however multiple applications cannot replicate the same product, program or idea. Therefore, individuals from within the same organization should confer with one another prior to submitting an application.

Can I submit my application in French?
Yes, applications can be submitted in either of Canada’s official languages, as the Institute will be offered in both official languages.

What expenses are covered for the thirty-six successful applicants?
All expenses are covered; this includes flight, hotel, meals, taxi and any miscellaneous travel expenses.

When will I be notified with the result of my application?
All applicants will be notified by April 2nd, 2012.

Do I have to be a Canadian citizen to apply to the SPARK Training Institute?
To be eligible to apply for a SPARK Fellowship, an applicant must be either a Canadian Citizen, Permanent Resident, Landed Immigrant or have obtained Refugee Status and must be eligible to work in Canada.

Do I have to hold a Bachelors, Masters or PHD to apply to the SPARK Training Institute?
No. The SPARK Training Institute encourages applications from all Canadians working in the field of mental health, substance use or addictions, broadly defined to include multiple sectors (e.g health, justice, education). The level of education obtained, will not positively or negatively affect the scoring of an application.
