18 Topic Areas
There are many complex topics that must be addressed in order to have a comprehensive strategy. We need to look in detail at what a transformed system will look like for different population groups (e.g., children and youth, seniors, First Nations Inuit and Metis); we need to address important issues that affect everyone (e.g., how should we pay for improved services and who should deliver them); and we need to set out a concrete plan for achieving the seven goals in the framework (e.g., what must be done to put in place services that are truly person-centred and oriented towards recovery).
There will be two waves of Roundtables on the topic areas, with the first seven being held between March 22, 2010, and April 29, 2010. The topics for the first wave will be:
• Recovery & Wellbeing
• Mental Health Promotion & Mental Illness Prevention
• Families/Circles of Support
• Diverse Needs and Strengths
• Mental Health System
• Social Inclusion
• Seniors
The second wave will cover (subject to change):
• Research /Knowledge
• Data (This roundtable was initially planned for Wave 1 but has been postponed)
• Children and Youth
• Northern and Remote
• First Nations, Inuit, and Métis
• Mental Health and the Law
• Workforce/Workplace
• Co-occurrence/Co-morbidities
• Funding
• Health Human Resources
