The Vancouver Local Advisory Committee held its first meeting in June 2009. The Committee is chaired by the Vancouver Site Coordinator and includes people with lived experience of mental illness and/or homelessness, family members of those who are mentally ill or homeless, local service providers, senior officials from provincial government ministries and from local government, senior officials from the local health authority, landlords and local police.

The Local Advisory Committee provides advice, input and feedback to the Local Project Team on behalf of concerned groups. It will:

• Identify local partnerships and support collaboration across the life of the project.
• Provide advice about and support implementation of strategies to develop long term sustainability for the housing subsidies and service interventions.
• Support and advise the Project Team moving forward on key issues and on how best to build a strong and broad learning community throughout the duration of the project.
