President and CEO, Mental Health Commission of Canada

Originally from Eastern Canada, Louise became a Registered Nurse in Newfoundland. She also studied at Dalhousie University and later obtained a Master of Science with a specialization in Mental Health from Northeastern University, Boston. Though Louise’s experience ranges from Community Mental Health to Forensic and Corrections Health Care, she has worked primarily in the Mental Health field as a frontline nurse, administrator, researcher and educator. She moved to Alberta to become the Senior Operating Officer for the University of Alberta Hospital in Edmonton and, in the spring of 2009, joined the Mental Health Commission of Canada as its Chief Operating Officer. For the past 5 years she has also been a surveyor with Accreditation Canada, and is both a Certified Health Executive and an adjunct professor with the University of Alberta Faculty of Nursing.

In April 2010, Louise became President and CEO of the Mental Health Commission of Canada.
