Ottawa, Ontario — On the fourth annual Bell Let’s Talk Day, the Mental Health Commission of Canada (MHCC) is encouraging Canadians from coast to coast to coast to join the growing national conversation on mental health. It’s Bell’s national campaign to get individuals talking, tweeting, and sharing support for reducing the stigma of mental health problems or illness by starting a conversation with family, friends, and co-workers with proceeds going towards mental health-related initiatives.
On January 28, 2014, Bell will contribute $.05 to mental health-related initiatives for every text, mobile or long-distance call made by its customers, for every tweet using #BellLetsTalk, and for every Facebook share of the Bell Let's Talk Day image.
“The Mental Health Commission of Canada is proud to support Bell Let’s Talk Day,” says MHCC President and CEO, Louise Bradley. “Bell Canada, a foremost Canadian corporation, is leading the way towards change as to how Canadian view mental health in the work place.”
Since 2010, Bell has committed more than $62 million to mental health-related initiatives in Canada – many of which resonate with the strategic directions outlined in the MHCC’s Mental Health Strategy for Canada.
“Bell Canada’s focus on anti-stigma, community care and access, workplace mental health, and research are crucial areas of focus for both the MHCC and for partner organizations across the country,” states Bradley.
“The Bell Let’s Talk campaign is helping move the needle forward and making life better for the hundreds of thousands of Canadians who are living with mental health problems or illnesses every day.”
