Ottawa, ON – The Mental Health Commission of Canada is very proud to be once again collaborating with the Canadian Alliance on Mental Illness and Mental Health (CAMIMH) throughout Mental Illness Awareness Week.

We applaud CAMIMH for raising awareness and starting crucial conversations through the compelling Faces of Mental Illness campaign. This year’s Faces, who are openly sharing their experiences with mental illness, remind all Canadians to reach out and extend support and compassion to those living with mental health problems or illnesses.

Mental Illness Awareness Week is an important opportunity to accelerate the changes we need to improve mental health outcomes across Canada. This is a week to take stock of our progress, and evaluate the work that still needs to be done to ensure the implementation of the recommendations outlined in Changing Directions, Changing Lives: The Mental Health Strategy for Canada.

This year CAMIMH will host federal officials, the 2015 Faces and other guests for a luncheon to celebrate the progress Canada is making, highlight personal stories of recovery, and champion even greater change.
