This supervisors’ mental health training program was offered on a rolling basis to over 500 supervisors in 2011. While the program was not mandatory per se, it was presented to supervisors with the expectation of participation and the completion of the program serving as criteria for leading subsequent employee mental health training modules. As a result of this “implied mandatory” expectation, there was a 90% uptake of the program in the first 8 months of release, significantly better than the 10 to 20% uptake of past mental health training offered by the organization on a voluntary basis.
