Cannabis and Mental Health

October 28, 2019

Now that non-medical cannabis is legal in Canada, there is a need to address the gaps that currently exist in the literature on cannabis and mental health. To inform policy and research agendas, the Mental Health Commission of Canada funded a team of experts from the University of Calgary to conduct an environmental scan and scoping review of existing literature on cannabis and mental health. In this webinar you will hear from Fiona Clement, one of the authors of Cannabis and Mental Health: Priorities for Research in Canada, who will speak to the findings of the report, including new opportunities to better understand the complex relationship between mental health and cannabis use.

We will also be hearing from Dr. Robert Gabrys of the Canadian Centre on Substance Use and Addiction, who will be giving us a summary of their Clearing the Smoke on Cannabis: Regular Use and Mental Health report.

Guest Speakers:

Dr. Fiona Clement, Associate Professor
Director, Health Technology Assessment Unit
University of Calgary

Dr. Robert Gabrys
Research and Policy Analyst
Canadian Centre on Substance Use and Addiction
